UL 9540 and UL 9540A explained

If you install a solar battery, two numbers keep coming up in the permit and inspection: UL 9540 and UL 9540A. They sound like versions of one thing, but they do different jobs — one is a product listing, the other is a fire test. Understanding the difference clears up a lot of AHJ confusion.

UL 9540: the system listing
